About the project
Elliot Vance writes and edits from New York, where he reports on labour, technology and reading culture. He makes narrative nonfiction and criticism, trained through an MFA in Creative Writing, and has been supported by a national arts fellowship and an independent press foundation.
As an editor he shapes long-form manuscripts for independent and established presses, and he is drawn to voices that rarely get a hearing and stories that unsettle the usual account.
Away from the desk he is usually in a Brooklyn archive, secondhand bookshop or cafe, following the next lead.
